How GoBoat rental works at Wharf in Washington, DC.

It's easy to rent a boat at the the Wharf through GoBoat.

GoBoat is one of the most popular boat rental companies in Washington. We therefore recommend that you book your boat online. Our booking system makes it easy to book and make changes to your booking. Remember to arrive 15 minutes before your chosen time at our base at The Wharf for sailing instructions.

You must be at least 21 years old to rent a boat. We recommend booking your boat trip in Washington, DC online, but you are also welcome to drop by and ask if we have boats available for boat rental on the same day.

If there are boats available, you can easily rent a boat for the day and enjoy a relaxing sail on the beautiful Washington Channel.

Our boats are easy to sail and travel at a leisurely speed of approx. 3 knots (3–5 m/h), allowing you to focus on enjoying your boat trip.

Before setting sail, we will teach you how to steer the boat and instruct you on the rules for sailing in the Washington Channel. Everyone can join in – you don't need a license or prior experience. We ensure safety through various procedures and life jackets in all boats.

GoBoat offers boat rentals every day from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Our boats accommodate up to 8 people, making it perfect for families, friends, or colleagues who want to explore by boat.

Flexibility is important when renting a boat at The Wharf. You can edit your booking online or receive a credit note up to 24 hours before departure, and if you cancel 72 hours in advance, you will receive a full refund.

The boat can accommodate a maximum of 8 people. The total weight should not exceed 1550 pounds. If the total weight exceeds 1550 pounds, there is a risk of water entering the bottom of the boat.

  • Public transportation: Take the metro to L'Enfant Plaza and take a 10 min walk from there to Float DC by GoBoat. Find us on Google Maps here.
  • By car: There are three underground garages at The Wharf. Garage 1 has three entrances. Garage 1 - Blair Alley Entrance is closest to GoBoat. Park in the BLUE section of the garage.
